How to Hang a Witch ( How to Hang a Witch #1)
Written by Adriana Mather
About from Goodreads.com
It's the Salem Witch Trials meets Mean Girls in a debut novel from one of the descendants of Cotton Mather, where the trials of high school start to feel like a modern-day witch hunt for a teen with all the wrong connections to Salem’s past.
Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were?
If dealing with that weren't enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries-old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with The Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it's Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself.
Pros
Twilight vibes but 100 times better
Salem Witch Trials facts (Wouldn't expect anything less from this writer)
Plot
Cons
Sad that the book ended (at least there is a second one)
Quotes I love
“Who knows what you'll attack me with next.”-Jaxson about that Sam accidentally got lip gloss on his hand
“And how do you propose I pee, then?” -Sam
The air’s crisp with the smell of autumn, and the first few leaves have started to change color. The streets have that family-friendly feel. Store windows already have pumpkins and witches’ hats in them.
Review
This book hands down was my favorite book of the month!
This was one of those books I just couldn't put down, yes I know I have been saying this a lot but, the others don't compare to this book. There were many reasons for me to binge this book.
The first one was the Twilight vibes, when I was younger I loved Twilight, a lot. As I got older though I started to dislike it, (mainly because of how toxic Edward was) the one thing I still like is the dark YA vibes Which this book does 110 times better.
The second thing, I really took pleasure in was all of the Salem Witch Trials facts that Mather has in this book. To tell the truth, I was expecting this from a descendant of Cotton Mather and I would have been dissatisfied if there weren't any facts about it in the book.
The last thing, I enjoyed was the plot in general, it was a very unique plot and Mather made it absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to start reading the second book Haunting the Deep.
