August 2022 Review #6 People from my neighborhood
People from my neighborhood
Written by Hiromi Kawakami
About
A bunch of short stories that deal with a little neighborhood that has strange things happening
Review
Originally, I was confused by the fact that these short stories entwined as I didn’t see how they were entwined, but the longer I read I learned that they do entwine. They entwined by having recurring characters and places. It was also very clear that there were mysterious things happening in the neighborhood.
Each story was mostly 2 to 5 pages long, even though they were short they had enough detail that it was very easy to picture. Since, the stories were so short they got right to the point instead of drawing out the story and adding unneeded detail. It was the perfect amount of detail and getting right to the point which I really enjoyed.
